Many people view the study of God's word as a duty to be fulfilled. A necessary evil to somehow gain God's blessing. A talisman, a magic tool to ward off evil and bring good. But the wise know better.
Those who have really tasted of the Father's counsel know that it is alive. It is God speaking to them. They relish the word like they do a great conversation on a spring day with the wisest friend they know. And, they have come to understand that if they will listen carefully and obey quickly, the words of the Father will be engrained into their soul--ever with them to guide and direct into the best of paths.
Proverbs 6
22 When you walk, they will lead you;
when you lie down, they will watch over you;
and when you awake, they will talk with you.
23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light,
and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life...
It is a great privilege to move from duty to delight in your conversations with your Father through His Word and prayer. Those who have made that transition find the best part which will never be taken away from them.
